Craft Stunning Tissue Paper Flower Centrepieces for Any Space or Occasion

When ordinary paper turns into flowers; that was me in February 2019, and I wanted flowers – lots of them. Fresh-cut blooms felt like an indulgence I wanted to skip that particular week, so I sat down at my crafting table, pulled out tissue paper, and decided to make something beautiful anyway. Several hours and dozens of blooms later, I had centrepieces that stopped people mid-conversation.

These blooms deliver.

That’s the quiet power of tissue paper flower centrepieces. They cost almost nothing, require tools you already own, and produce the kind of visual drama that makes a room feel curated and intentional. Whether you’re refreshing a corner of your home or designing table displays for an upcoming event, these blooms deliver.

Place them anywhere you want to draw the eye.

For bases, vases work beautifully for stem arrangements. A styrofoam ball cut in half makes low, lush centrepieces with a perfect dome shape – though covering one fully takes fifty flowers or more. That sounds like a lot until you get into a rhythm, and then it becomes meditative.

What You Need, Layer by Layer

Your supply list stays simple: tissue paper, scissors, a ruler, and glue – hot glue or craft glue both work. Petal density comes from the number of layers you stack, ranging from three sheets for small delicate blooms to over a dozen for oversized showstoppers.

The classic method moves through measuring, stacking, accordion-style folding, cutting petal shapes, and then fluffing each layer apart – that fluffing step transforms flat paper into something that genuinely resembles a flower.

A second method uses connected petals: cut and offset tissue strips, gather and roll them, then glue each flower onto a stem. Three steps, beautiful results; see how ordinary paper turns into flowers.

Pick up your scissors. Your creativity already knows what to do next.
